Authority of Scripture

Leah, you thought you were a noob. I just spent about 10 mins figuring out how to post a blog. Anyways, I'm doing a lesson on authority for Lifenet of scrpture (and a side one on what the bible says about tattoos) which we've covered in home group. I'm reading a book Dave leant me and am becoming more and more anti-evolution and I am very conservative. The whole bible is truth! Cosmologically, historically...everything.

What do you make of John 3:12? By 'earthly things' is the bible referring to all historical (none faith) aspects of the bible?

I'm interested in anything on this topic.

Hey Vinny

Good question man, glad your liking the book. I might prepare tonights lesson on authority of scripture , and i'll have a look at the John 3:12 passage when I get home and let you know. Initial thoughts are no, I think it referring to the doctrines relating to man and things on earth, eg. the new birth, meaning that if you dont get that how will you get heaven related doctrines about God and Jesus etc.

This is an interesting quote for how the bible proves its authority.

"All arguments for an ultimate authority must ultimately appeal to that authority for proof - otherwise that authority would not be the absolute highest".
